“Like a seed planted with the intention of blossoming into a beautiful perennial, a mantra can be thought of as a seed for energizing an intention. Much in the same way you plant a flower seed, you plant mantras in the fertile soil of practice. You nurture them and over time they bear the fruit of your intention.” – The Chopra Center

Did you know? Mantra is The Sacred Language of Sanskrit

In our westernized, modern-day spiritual practices the word “mantra” has become as mainstream as “intention.” But the two are actually quite different. The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: “man,” which means mind, and “tra,” which means transport or vehicle. In other words, a mantra is an instrument of the mind—a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of meditation.

This full-length feature documentary about the practice of Kirtan chanting shares the stories of two American women who discover Bhakti Yoga and who experience healing and a sense of inner peace by singing mantras with others. Through chanting, they experience feelings of unconditional love and connection. The film accompanies the women as they delve further into the healing qualities of this practice, finding that chanting is not only a pleasure, it is also deeply therapeutic. The film features performers such as Deva Premal & Miten, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Snatam Kaur and MC Yogi. We see how they came to embrace the practice of Kirtan and how it transformed their lives. This film is about spirituality, not religion. It’s about people reconnecting with their true selves and finding meaning in their lives.
